Workshops

Queers On Wheels teaches classes and workshops!

We offer three different workshops for different kinds of audiences: our workshop on sexuality focuses on being sexual and disabled; our disability sensitivity training will provide your group with a sense of familiarity and comfort with the issues facing people with disabilities; our LGBTQ sensitivity training is designed to help organizations to better serve and include people who are part of the gay lesbian bisexual transgender and queer community.

The Queers On Wheels sexuality workshop

In this workshop we can discuss:

  • How to hire and maintain healthy working relationships with your aides
  • How to talk to your girlfriend or boyfriend about your disability
  • How to deal with having aides when you’re dating
  • How and when to discuss safer sex with your significant other
  • How to adapt sex toys such as vibrators and dildos and many other sexual devices
  • How to masturbate if you need assistance

We do 90-minute workshops about these topics. The format is a short lecture on each topic followed by questions and discussion, to promote the sharing of stories and tips. We feel that since there is a lack of information about this subject, this workshop will most benefit disabled people by providing life skills and an opportunity to talk to others in similar situations.

We hope to have physically disabled folks as well as non-disabled folks attend Queers On Wheels workshops, as non-disabled folks will be able to better understand the disabled community, and learn about alternative ways of expressing sexuality. We have done workshops at queer conferences, sex toys shops, and disabilities conferences. We can alter the information for any age ranges i.e. discard the explicitly sexual information.

We ask for a $100 donation. However if your organization or company cannot afford that amount we can negotiate a price. Please use the form at the bottom of this page to schedule a workshop or to get more information
